Timket – Ethiopian Epiphany Festival

3 Days

About This Tour

Timket is one of Ethiopia’s most vibrant and spiritually moving religious festivals, celebrated nationwide every year on January 19 (or 20 in leap years). This unforgettable cultural journey brings you into the heart of ancient Ethiopian Orthodox traditions. During Timket, sacred replicas of the Ark of the Covenant — known as Tabots — are carried out of churches in grand procession, accompanied by priests chanting, drums, traditional sistrum, and joyful crowds dressed in white.

Your Timket tour offers a front-row experience to this living heritage: witnessing colorful rituals, blessing ceremonies, mass baptisms, and centuries-old customs that transform entire cities into places of celebration, unity, and devotion.
